On Wednesday, troopers with the Oregon State Police seized almost 10 pounds of illegal drugs during a traffic stop.
An OSP report said at about 11:00 a.m. a trooper stopped a vehicle on Interstate 5 northbound in Douglas County for traffic violations. During the stop, the trooper observed signs of possible criminal activity and requested to search the vehicle. The consent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of 9.2 pounds of suspected fentanyl powder.
The vehicle operator, 27-year-old Johana Gonzalez Castillo, and passenger, 26-year-old Bayron Enamorado Manueles, both of Oakland, California, were arrested on charges of unlawful possession and delivery of fentanyl and were taken to the Douglas County Jail. Both were detained on $75,000 bail.
The report said the case is currently under investigation and no additional information is available for release at this time.
