STATE POLICE RESPOND TO TWO FATAL CRASHES

Troopers with Oregon State Police dealt with two fatal accidents which took place earlier this week in Douglas County.

An OSP report said Monday at approximately 10:40 a.m. troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 38, about two miles west of Drain. A preliminary investigation indicated that an eastbound SUV, operated by 64-year-old Anne Adair Johnson of Salem, left the roadway for unknown reasons, traveled down an embankment, rolled, and struck multiple trees. Johnson was declared deceased at the scene. The highway was impacted for approximately three hours. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. OSP was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and North Douglas County Fire and EMS.

Tuesday shortly after 3:00 p.m. troopers responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 230 near milepost 14, approximately 10 miles from Diamond Lake. The preliminary investigation indicated that a southbound sedan, operated by 19-year-old Justus Wilson Jackson of Beaverton, left the roadway for unknown reasons and struck a tree. The operator was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Jackson was declared deceased at the scene. OSP was assisted by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
