On Wednesday, the Douglas County Board of Commissioners Chris Boice, Tim Freeman and Tom Kress issued a proclamation calling upon citizens to celebrate November as Veterans and Military Families Month.

The proclamation recognized and invited residents to honor veterans and military families for the sacrifices they have made for the country.

A county release said in honor of the proclamation, the commissioners are proud to announce that Douglas County is participating again in Operation Green Light. During the month of November, the courthouse is illuminated with green lights to show appreciation and support for veterans and their families. Residents are encouraged to place a green light on their porch or outside light fixture. The green lights will remain on display through the end of the month.
