TWO-VEHICLE WRECK AT GARDEN VALLEY/MELROSE ROAD INTERSECTION

November 1, 2024 10:20 a.m.

No one was injured in a two-vehicle wreck at the intersection of Garden Valley Road and Melrose Road, just west of Roseburg, on Thursday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 3:30 p.m. a 61-year-old Roseburg man was attempting to drive from the stop sign at Darley Drive, across Garden Valley onto Melrose Road. The man didn’t see a second vehicle traveling eastbound on Garden Valley. That driver slammed on her brakes, but her sedan still ended up hitting the back passenger corner of the other driver’s pickup.

The pickup sustained minor injuries while the sedan was disabled. Both drivers exchanged insurance information. The sedan was towed from the scene while the pickup was able to be driven away. The driver who caused the accident was cited for failure to yield.
