WINSTON AREA WOMAN JAILED IN STOLEN VEHICLE INCIDENT

A Winston area woman was jailed for a stolen vehicle incident on Wednesday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 7:00 p.m. a victim called dispatch and said a woman had stolen her vehicle from a driveway in the 300 block of Weaver Road in the Myrtle Creek area.

The caller’s son advised that he had pulled into the driveway of the residence with the 29-year-old woman as a passenger. The man went inside for a short period of time to use the bathroom and when he came outside, the woman and the vehicle were gone. The victim’s son that he had just met the woman, and he had no other information about her. The victim signed the stolen vehicle form, and the SUV was entered into records as being stolen.

At approximately 11:15 p.m. a deputy saw the vehicle traveling on Henry Street going towards Taylor Street. The deputy stopped the SUV at the intersection of Gentry Loop and Weaver Avenue and took the woman into custody without incident. The woman admitted to stealing the vehicle to drive to the Winston area but decided to bring it back.

She was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen vehicle. The woman was detained without bail.
