A Roseburg man was arrested on strangulation and harassment charges after a disturbance Monday night.

The Roseburg Police Department said it responded to a residence on Northeast Pomona for a disturbance. Officers were told a 25-year-old man had reportedly grabbed a woman by her throat and held her down on a bed.

The RPD report said the woman left the residence, but later came back to get her cat. The man was allegedly still upset and pushed her by the face backwards

There were markings on the woman’s face consistent with her account of the incident, according to RPD. The man acknowledged there had been an altercation, but denied strangling the woman.

Roseburg Police took the man into custody on charges of strangulation and harassment. He’s being held at Douglas County Corrections without bail.
