A Tenmile man was jailed Saturday afternoon on the charge of interfering with a firefighter.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 1:40 p.m. the Tenmile Rural Fire Department was investigating an illegal burn at a home in the 100 block of Charlene Lane in the Tenmile area.

A 59-year-old resident blocked the road and yelled at firefighters as they conducted the investigation. At one point, the man reportedly kicked a gate into the fire chief when he was attempting to explain why they were there. The resident claimed that fire restrictions had been lifted and the fire department didn’t have a reason to be there.

The fire was within 35 feet of the home and the man was burning trash. He was also charged with harassment. He was detained without bail.
