On Tuesday, an Oregon State Police K-9 team intercepted fentanyl and heroin destined for Portland and made two arrests.
An OSP release said at about 11:00 a.m. an OSP trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding on Interstate 5 near the main Sutherlin exit. During the stop, the trooper observed signs of criminal activity and deployed a drug detection K-9. The vehicle search resulted in the discovery of 5.8 pounds of fentanyl and 5 pounds of heroin with suspected fentanyl inside the vehicle.
The driver, 22-year-old Dago Rodrigo Rodrigues and passenger, Mateo Marin-Peraza, both of Oakland, California were each charged with unlawful possession and delivery of fentanyl and heroin. Rodrigues was detained on $2 million bail. Marin-Peraza was detained without bail and was released on Wednesday.
