ROSEBURG POLICE CITE 6 PEOPLE FOR PROHIBITED CAMPING

Roseburg Police cited 6 people for prohibited camping between Tuesday morning and early Wednesday morning.

An RPD report said the contacts were made at Gaddis Park in the 800 block of Northwest Highland Street, near the intersection of Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard, in the 500 block of Southeast Spruce Street, and in the 2400 block of Northwest Stewart Parkway.

All those contacted were in violation of at least one portion of the time, place and manner ordinance. One man was ultimately transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for an infected spider bite. One of the camps was surrounded by what were called, “copious amounts of wadded up toilet paper and beverage containers”. The person contacted said the situation shouldn’t be considered littering, because if hadn’t been there for at least 24 hours. He was also cited for depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway. All those cited were released at the scene.
