UMPQUA NATIONAL FOREST LIFTS HOMESTEAD COMPLEX CLOSURE

October 22, 2024 10:50 a.m.

The Umpqua National Forest has rescinded the most recent Homestead Complex Emergency Fire Closure order.

A UNF release said the closure impacted parts of the North Umpqua, Diamond Lake and Cottage Grove ranger districts, which are now open. On the Devils Knob and Dixon Fire, administrative closures will be lifted Wednesday, except for Forest Service Road 500 within the Devils Knob Fire footprint. It will remain under administrative closure as work continues in the area. All closure information can be found on the forest website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/umpqua

Lifting the Homestead Emergency Closure increases access to parts of the forest that have been closed since the lightning burst that came through in mid-July. Officials urge visitors to remain vigilant regarding the hazards posed by recently burned areas.

The Umpqua National Forest remains in Moderate Fire Danger.
