TRANSIENT JAILED FOR ALLEGED HARASSMENT INCIDENT

A transient was jailed following an alleged harassment incident on Thursday.

A Sutherlin Police report said shortly before 11;00 a.m. an officer began an investigation into the whereabouts of a victim after it was reported that he had been assaulted by 31-year-old Rusty McGill and had not been heard from since. The incident was captured on city cameras and McGill was taken into custody in the 700 block of Hastings Avenue.

While transporting McGill to the jail, the man allegedly spit at the officer and put $23 through an open divider separating the front and rear cab of the patrol vehicle. He was charged with aggravated harassment, harassment and second-degree disorderly conduct. McGill was detained without bail.
