SUTHERLIN MAN JAILED FOR DUII/HIT AND RUN PROPERTY DAMAGE

A Sutherlin man was jailed for a DUII and hit and run/property damage incident on Friday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 5:10 p.m. the 21-year-old was driving north in the 2000 block of Southside Road in the Sutherlin area when he failed to negotiate a turn and went west off the roadway, damaging a cattle fence. The man then reportedly fled the scene, leaving his license plate in the field. He was eventually contacted and admitted to the incident. The man was found to be intoxicated. He consented to standard field sobriety tests and allegedly showed impairment.

The driver was transported to corrections where he provided a blood alcohol content of .15 percent. He was charged with driving under the influence of an intoxicant and failure to perform the duties of a driver – property damage. The man was detained without bail.
