BELLVUE, WASHINGTON MAN JAILED FOLLOWING HIT AND RUN CRASH

A Bellevue, Washington man was jailed following a hit and run crash on Wednesday. An Oregon State Police report released late Friday said at 3:45 p.m. a witness said the crash had occurred on Interstate Five southbound about a mile south of the Rice Valley exit. The witness said the incident involved a newer red SUV and an older red sedan. An additional witness reported in the same area and time frame and claimed that a red SUV with Washington plates operated by a male driver was being driven in a reckless manner southbound near Metz Hill.

A trooper located the vehicle about two miles north of Winchester and stopped it for following too closely and conducted an investigation on the driver. The SUV had fresh damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle. The 22-year-old man was detained and allegedly found to be in possession of a concealed handgun. He did not have an Oregon concealed carry permit.

The man was charged with reckless driving and unlawful possession/concealment of firearms. He was detained without bail and was released on Friday.
