UMPQUA NATIONAL FOREST RESCINDS DIAMOND COMPLEX CLOSURE

October 11, 2024 10:50 a.m.

On Friday, the Umpqua National Forest rescinded the Diamond Complex Emergency Fire Closure Order.

A UNF release said the closure impacted a small portion of the Diamond Lake Ranger District, just east of the Boulder Creek Wilderness. The Homestead Emergency Fire Closure Order still remains in effect on portions of the North Umpqua, Diamond Lake, and Cottage Grove Ranger districts.

On the Tiller Ranger District, two Administrative Closures for the roads in the footprints of Devils Knob and Dixon Fires are in effect. All closure information can be found on the forest website: Umpqua National Forest – Alerts & Closures (usda.gov)

The rescinded Diamond Complex Emergency Fire Closure opens, previously closed, popular recreation site, Lemolo Falls.

The release said with more recreation areas opening, forest staff asks visitors to slow down and obey posted speed limits, as firefighters continue to work in many areas across the forest. Additionally, the public is asked to use extra caution when entering any of the recently burned areas and be aware of increased hazards, particularly snags, which are dead and dying trees. As a reminder to visitors, the forest is in Moderate Fire Danger.
