Feeding Umpqua’s Empty Bowls Project Dinner fundraiser is being called “A Great Success”.
A release said the 7th annual event held last Monday was their largest ever with 188 attendees. Over $45,000 was raised to help the non-profits work in Douglas County. With 98,000 meals provided to the community, funding from the evening will support approximately 1.5 months of meals to the county.
Feeding Umpqua Manager Sarah McGregor said, “We’ve had some really big fundraising goals, and the community really stepped up. We really have an amazing community in Douglas County, and they showed up to feed hope”. McGregor said, “This funding will enable us to continue serving the community – either by distributing food to our network of agencies across the county or directly to clients on the Outpost, our mobile food pantry”.
Over a dozen restaurants and other businesses participated and donated to this year’s dinner.
