Organizers of the third annual Make a Difference Day – Douglas County are seeking volunteers interested in working on community projects that have been identified for the October 26th day of service.
Make a Difference Day is a nationally recognized day of service that is held on the fourth Saturday of every October. This will be the third annual event held locally and was organized by a consortium of local community service leaders. Their goal is to promote volunteerism throughout Douglas County.
Volunteers are needed for two dozen projects. The event’s primary sponsors include the United Community Action Network, Thrive Umpqua, Greater Douglas United Way, Roseburg Public Schools, Sunrise Enterprises and JustServe.
Tim Juett, planning committee member and founder of the local event said, “We are so grateful to all of the individuals and organizations who have made Douglas County’s Make a Difference Day observance a major success in our first two years of celebration of volunteerism”. Juett said, “We look forward to making an even bigger impact in our community this year”.
Volunteers may choose a project to work on during a three-hour shift from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on October 26th. Groups from businesses and service organizations are also encouraged to participate and can sign up as teams.
