SUTHERLIN POLICE JAIL MAN FOLLOWNIG HIT AND RUN INCIDENT FRIDAY

Sutherlin Police jailed a man following a hit and run incident on Friday afternoon.

An SPD report said at 2:20 p.m. the victim was traveling east on Hastings Avenue, on his motorcycle, when he realized a sports car was following him and he knew who it belonged to. The report said the two are known to each other and do not get along. The victim pulled his motorcycle into a nearby parking lot when the car driver allegedly drove straight at him, and his vehicle struck the side of the motorcycle.

The motorist then did a u turn and drove at the victim again, while the motorcycle was parked on the sidewalk. The motorcycle was hit again, and the victim jumped off his bike so he would not be physically hit. The victim claimed the suspect held up a brown pistol and pointed it in his direction. The victim was recording the incident, which was viewed after it happened by an SPD officer.

After the incident, the suspect drive away. He was located in the parking lot of a business in the 1000 block of West Central Avenue. The man was identified as 31-year- old Tauno Stanley. He was charged with second-degree assault, vehicular assault, menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless driving. He was detained without bail.
