The 9th annual Dignity Drive with the Zonta Club of Roseburg is underway.
During October, which is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and November which begins, “Zonta Says No to Violence Against Women”, the club is collecting undergarments and sanitary products for victims of abuse.
A Zonta release said abuse victims are often forced to flee their home with little more than the clothing they are wearing. Through November 22nd, residents can help by contributing new bras, panties, or sanitary products to Zonta’s Dignity Drive. The donated items provide dignity as the women work to restore their lives. All sizes of top and bottom garments are needed.
Garments can be dropped off at the purple boxes located at the YMCA of Douglas County, Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews, and Sherm’s Thunderbird Market – all on Northwest Stewart Parkway. Dignity items can also be dropped off at the front desk of the Roseburg Public Library on Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard.
The Dignity Drive is part of the Zonta Club of Roseburg’s HandUp program, which works in cooperation with Peace at Home Advocacy Center, Adapt/Crossroads, Safe Haven Maternity Home and other agencies to help women in life changing transitions. The donated items will be distributed to these partner agencies for women in need.
