A Myrtle Creek woman was jailed for an alleged prior assault, robbery and theft incident.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said on a prior date, a victim claimed he was at a park with his dog in the 400 block of South Canyon Street in Canyonville when a group of 3 younger males and a female stole his dog. The victim claimed one of the men put him in a choke hold while the others took the animal. The victim said the subjects left the area in a sedan.
Days after the incident, a deputy was able to obtain video surveillance which corroborated the victim’s account of what happened. Deputies were able to identify all 4 subjects who physically assaulted the victim and/or aided in the assault and then took the dog.
On Tuesday, 38-year-old Christiana Sorensen was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree theft and third-degree assault. Sorensen was detained on $5,000 bail and was released on Wednesday.
