A Winston man died in a single-vehicle accident in the Camas Valley area on Monday afternoon.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 3:25 p.m. the wreck was reported in the 2000 block of Upper Camas Road. CPR was performed and the driver, 80-year-old John Parret, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The pickup had left the roadway and traveled for approximately 380 feet before coming to a stop after hitting a pole and going down an embankment.

The report said it appeared that the driver might have had a medical event which caused the accident.
