Roseburg Public Library has a slate of programs scheduled for youth this fall.
A city release said Storytime is a mainstay, and the library’s first event will be a special program to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in the community. On Wednesday, October 2nd at 10:15 a.m. Youth Services Librarian Aurora Ropp will have a program with stories, songs, movement, rhymes and a craft. This is for children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers. Following Storytime, the Friends of the Roseburg Public Library will thank those who have helped fund the local program. The event will end with a social hour. Light refreshments for children and adults will be served.
Starting the next week, the same Storytime program will be offered twice a week – on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
New this year for the library’s littlest patrons, Ropp will present Lap-Sit Storytime at 10:15 a.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in October, November and December. The program is for children from 6 months to 2 years old and will feature 20 minutes of interactive rhymes and songs for babies and caregivers, props to play with and books.
Young adults between 13 and 18 years of age are invited to Teen Drop-in Hangout from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the first Wednesdays of October, November and December. Ropp will be in the Teen Room with games, Playstation, virtual reality headsets, crafts, Magic: The Gathering card game and snacks. A variety of craft activities will take place.
Teen volunteer hours are scheduled for the third Wednesday each month. Volunteers will perform supervised activities that may include packaging craft kits, light house keeping and alphabetizing books.
