UNF REDUCES CLOSURE AREAS

Umpqua National Forest has issued two new closure orders.

A UNF release said these open some previously closed areas. The new orders impact the North Umpqua, Cottage Grove and Diamond Lake districts. On the Tiller Ranger District, the Devils Knob Closure Order is still in effect.

Some popular locations that were closed that are now open to the public include Umpqua Hot Springs, Island Campground, Mount Thielsen Trail and portions of the North Umpqua Trail that are adjacent to the Diamond closure. This includes a number of popular campgrounds as well.

With more recreation areas opening, UNF asked that forest visitors slow down and obey posted speed limits, as firefighters continue to work in many areas across the forest.

All closure information is available on the forest website: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/umpqua/alerts-notices
