Sutherlin Police jailed a man on the charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine on Thursday following multiple incidents.

An SPD report said a small bindle baggy with white powder residue was allegedly located inside the pocket of the 35-year-old during a search incident in the 1300 block of West Central Avenue on Wednesday. On Thursday the residue tested positive for amphetamines.

Thursday morning the man allegedly asked for $10 in gas at a station in the 500 block of West Central Avenue. After the gas was pumped, the man told the attendant that he didn’t have the money. He left his name and a phone number and said he would return to pay for it by 1:00 p.m. He never returned.

The man was contacted by SPD shortly after 4:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of West Central Avenue. Two charges of third-degree theft, and a transitional leave violation were added. Bail was set at $2,500.
