The United Community Action Network is canceling contracts with a vendor for providing three Porta Potty units in downtown Roseburg, effective October 1st.

A notice provided by UCAN Executive Director Shaun Pritchard said the move is due to recent and ongoing vandalism and destruction. Units are at:

*548 Northeast Jackson Street

*202 Southeast Jackson Street

*840 Southeast Stephens Street

Pritchard said the funding and liability wrapped around the service is not able to sustain ongoing repairs and replacements at levels seen recently. One unit was completely destroyed by a fire a few weeks ago.

Pritchard said theft and vandalism on UCAN property has been on the increase. The non-profit recently had a had a vehicle stolen, a trailer stolen, and other vehicles vandalized, including school buses.
