HEAVY RAIN IN PARTS OF THE HOMESTEAD COMPLEX

September 12, 2024 11:20 a.m.

Extremely heavy rains on the northern flank of the Horse Heaven Creek Fire in the Homestead Complex on Wednesday, caused fire managers to direct firefighters to not engage in suppression operations.

A UNF update said the rain saturated the soil and led to concerns with falling trees and rolling material. Work on other flanks of the fire continued with chipping and log hauling where road conditions were stable. Fire managers are accessing where conditions are safe and stable enough to continue with working to complete containment line down into Horse Heaven Creek and opening up an alternate resource access point to the northwest.

Fire updates:

*Horse Heaven Creek Fire has grown to 2,715 acres with containment remaining at 56 percent

*Fuller Lake Fire is up to 3,516 acres with zero percent containment

*No Man Fire is 2,089 acres and 44 percent contained

*Bullpup Fire is 520 acres and 44 percent contained
