Containment work continues on the Devil’s Knob and Milepost 98 fires.

An update from the Northwest Incident Management Team 13 said night operations on the Devil’s Knob Fire worked to build on what firefighters were able to accomplish on Wednesday. This includes working to secure and bolster lines around the fire. Hand crews are monitoring hot spots near the fire’s edge and will engage where able to fully extinguish fuels.

On the Milepost 98 Fire, firefighters have finished building line around the entirely of the fire. Resources assigned are continuing mop up operations, broadening lines and further securing the perimeter. Hazard trees that could fall in wet and windy weather are a concern.

The Devil’s Knob Fire is at 4,130 acres and is 13 percent contained. The Milepost 98 Fire is listed at 250 acres with containment at 21 percent.
