The Homestead Complex, burning on the Umpqua National Forest, is nearing 9,500 acres and is 31 percent contained as of midday on Wednesday.

A UNF update said heavy rain showers arrived over the fire on Wednesday. Fire managers have a plan in place to keep firefighters safe should operations need to be adjusted. Fire behavior remained active Tuesday on the Fuller Lake Fire and the northern flank of the Horse Heaven Creek Fire.

Fire updates:

*Horse Heaven Creek Fire remains 2,539 acres and 56 percent contained. Tuesday crews continued mopping up spots just north of the north flank of the fire. Crews continued mopping up around spot fires on the northeast corner and a slopover on the northwest corner of the fire, both of which resulted from the recent burnout operation.

*Fuller Lake Fire is still 2,835 acres with zero percent containment. The fire has progressed south into the Boulder Creek Wilderness Area. On the eastern flank, construction of new containment line continued. Crews and heavy equipment were prepping the 3810 and 5850 roads to serve as control lines.

*On the No Man Fire, listed at 2,081 acres and 44 percent contained, crews will be patrolling, mopping up, chipping, hauling logs and conducting suppression repair operations.

*The Bullpup Fire remains 501 acres and 7 percent contained. The fire is within primary and secondary control lines. This includes control lines to the north of the 300 Road system.

Widespread wetting rainfall over the fire area is predicted. Rainfall amounts are expected to range from over a quarter of an inch to about three quarters of an inch by the time precipitation tapers off.
