DEVIL’S KNOB AND MILEPOST 98 FIRES SEE GROWTH ON MONDAY

The Devil’s Knob Fire burning in the Tiller area and the Milepost 98 Fire near Canyonville saw acreage totals grow on Monday.

An update from the Northwest Incident Management Team 13 said on the Devil’s Knob Fire the high heat and low relative humidity led to active burning conditions. Firefighters were successful in establishing anchors where hand and dozer line continue to be constructed to secure priority areas along the fire perimeter protecting values at risk. The fire is now listed at 3,793 acres.

On the Milepost 98 Fire, resources were engaged in mop up operations where successful tactical firing operations were completed from previous operational shifts throughout the day. Firefighters continue to plumb portions of the perimeter to deliver a steady water supply to aid in minimizing the progression of the fire. The Milepost 98 Fire is up to 328 acres.
