Roseburg Police jailed a man after an eluding incident Saturday night.

An RPD report said at 6:00 p.m. officers attempted to pull over 33-year-old William Querini III for numerous traffic violations near the corner of Northeast Chestnut Street and Northeast Stephens Street. Querini reportedly eluded officers at a high rate of speed and the pursuit was terminated.

Sutherlin Police officers located the suspect a short time later and the vehicle attempted to elude again. The vehicle was spiked twice, with help from Oregon State Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, and it continued for over fifteen miles until it crashed on Highway 42 near Helweg Road.

Querini was charged with eluding in a vehicle, reckless driving and multiple warrants. He was detained without bail.
