The fires on the east half of the Homestead Complex were very active on Thursday and are expected to remain active

An Umpqua National Forest update said firefighters began tactical burnout operations on the Horse Heaven Creek Fire Thursday. As the firing progressed, some spot fires crossed over the 3831 Road and crews worked into the night to contain them. The area of the fire down in the Windy Creek drainage also progressed up the northwest slopes of the drainage. Crews are working to contain any slopovers. The firing of this burnout operation will continue if burning conditions remain favorable.

There are no changes in the size of the fires in the complex or the containment levels.
