OAKLAND MAN JAILED FOR ALLEGED OVERNIGHT DUII INCIDENT

An Oakland man was jailed for an alleged overnight DUII incident early Saturday.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at 2:00 a.m. a victim was turning his vehicle onto the 4000 block of Old Highway 99 South in the Oakland area when an SUV failed to stop at the red light and drove into the victim’s pickup; The suspect then drove north on Highway 99 until his vehicle became disabled at a nearby business. The victim tried to talk to the suspect, but the man fled north on foot. He was located a few minutes later in the 300 block of Apricot Lane.

The man, identified as 43-year-old Victor Haines, was ultimately charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, driving while suspended and failure to perform the duties of a driver – property damage. Haines was detained without bail.
