Monday is Labor Day and that means there are a number of closures.
Federal, state, county and city offices are closed. No regular mail will be delivered. Schools are not in session. Banks and credit unions are not open. Professional offices are closed. Many retail businesses are open though some may be closed or have limited hours.
The first Labor Day holiday was celebrated on Tuesday, September 5th, 1882, in New York City. In 1984, President Gover Cleveland signed a law making the first Monday in September of each year a national holiday.
