Roseburg Police jailed a man for an alleged theft incident on Thursday.

An RPD report said at 6:00 p.m. officers contacted a 33-year-old near the intersection of Northeast Stephens Street and Northeast Winchester Avenue. He admitted to stealing a backpack off a nearby porch and had the backpack in his possession. The man was placed in handcuffs and was taken to corrections. He was detained without bail.
