Roseburg Police jailed a man for allegedly eluding them in a stolen vehicle on Wednesday morning.
An RPD report said at 11:30 a.m. officers located a stolen vehicle at a service station in the 2200 block of Northeast Diamond Lake Boulevard. When an officer pulled in behind the vehicle, the driver reportedly sped off. Officers and deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office pursued the vehicle east on Highway 138 for several miles until the pursuit was terminated. The vehicle was later located by Oregon State Police and the driver, 28-year-old Jordan Eldridge was arrested.
Eldridge was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude police in a vehicle and for reckless driving. He was detained without bail.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said a victim called to say her vehicle was stolen that morning just after 7:20 a.m. when she left it running while going inside a store in the 200 block of Eighth Street in Winchester Bay. A deputy later viewed video surveillance which showed a man matching Eldridge’s description, getting into the vehicle and heading southbound on Highway 101. Eldridge is from Illinois.
