County Commissioners Chris Boice. Tim Freeman, and Tom Kress would like to remind residents that most county government offices will be closed on Monday for Labor Day.
A county release said that includes offices in the courthouse, Justice Building, Courthouse Annex in Reedsport, fairgrounds office, county landfill and transfer sites and all external county offices.
The Douglas County Museum of History and Natural History as well as the Umpqua River Lighthouse Museum in Winchester Bay will be open for visitors on Monday. All county parks, campgrounds and boat ramps will be open and accessible to the public during the holiday.
Even though the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will be closed, deputies, 911 communications, and other DCSO staff will provide law enforcement protection and emergency assistance for residents. Those who have an emergency can still call 911. To reach dispatch for a non-emergency, call 440-4471.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners and designated department officials will continue to work on local wildfire response, regardless of the holiday.
