A late summer hot streak is forecast to bring the Umpqua Valley at and near record high temperatures for the date Thursday through Saturday.
Forecasters at the National Weather Service are expecting high temperatures in the upper 90s to possibly the triple digits for the three-day period. The mercury is expected to hit 97 degrees Thursday, 100 degrees on Friday and 96 degrees on Saturday. The seasonal normal high temperature for this part of August is 84 degrees. Starting Sunday, afternoon highs are forecast to drop back to the low to mid 80s for a few days, before getting back to the 90s beginning next Wednesday.
The hot weather means wildfire danger could be on the rise, going into the Labor Day weekend.
