Roseburg Police jailed a man for probation violation and third-degree escape Monday evening.

An RPD report said at 7:20 p.m. an officer contacted the 39-year-old at Fir Grove Park in the 1300 block of West Harvard Avenue after a caller said there was a physical disturbance in the area. Officers determined the man was involved and dispatch advised that he was on probation. His probation officer authorized a detainer.

The suspect was told he was under arrest, but would not cooperate. He was held at taser point, warned that he would be tased, and again was told he was under arrest. The man allegedly continued to be uncooperative and then ran from the officer. The officer pursed the man, deployed a taser and took him to the ground, but the taser connection was broken. The suspect got up and continued to run. He was detained by officers a short time later. Bail was set at $6,250.
