The Homestead Complex, burning in the Umpqua National Forest, remains at 5,898 acres and is 47 percent contained.
Operations Section Chief Manny Mendoza said, “things are going good”, as shown by progress in containment. Mendoza said, additionally, these efforts are helping with the incident objective to protect steelhead trout spawning grounds.
Fire updates:
*Horse Heaven Creek Fire: 2,295 acres with a significant growth in containment on the east side. Crews are working to open roads on the west. The hazards of hot spots remain and crews are diligently assessing those areas.
*No Man Fire: 2,080 acres with crews continuing with forest rehabilitation as well as patrolling and mop up. Drones were used Sunday searching for hot spots.
*Bullpup Fire: 476 acres with hot shot crews putting direct handline on the northern edge of the fire, one going east and the other towards the west.
Fuller Lake Fire: 418 acres. The focus remains to prep primary and secondary control lines along with chipping and patrolling.
