HIGH HUMIDITY AND RAIN LIMITED SPREAD ON HOMESTEAD COMPLEX

August 24, 2024 11:20 a.m.

High humidity and rain limited fire spread on the Homestead Complex on Friday.

The fire, burning in the Umpqua National Forest, is at 5,898 acres and is 40 percent contained.

A UNF update said remote automatic weather stations near the fires recorded between a half inch and three-quarters of an inch of rain during a 24-hour period, which brought the 48-hour total to over 1 inch. This precipitation will not fully extinguish the fires on the complex but will cause a significant delay in the use of tactical firing.

Fire updates:

*Horse Heaven Creek Fire: 2,295 acres

*No Man Fire: 2,080 acres

*Bullpup Fire: 476 acres

*Reynolds Butte Fire: 334 acres
