August 22, 2024 3:40 a.m.

The Umpqua National Forest has a new forest closure order which is now in effect as of Wednesday.

A UNF release said the order opens some previously closed areas. The new order impacts parts of the Cottage Grove, Diamond Lake and North Umpqua Ranger districts. In addition, on the Tiller Ranger District, the Dixson Fire closure order has been rescinded and select roads will be in an administrative closure as firefighters continue to work in the area.

The updated exemptions in the new closure order include some popular trails like Lemolo Falls, Howlock Mountain and Toketee Falls trails. Also, 12 campgrounds are now open.

All closure information along with a map can be found on the UNF website: Umpqua National Forest – Alerts & Closures (usda.gov)
