Three people were taken to hospitals after a two-vehicle accident on Wednesday.
A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said at approximately 12:50 p.m. a 17-year-old Vancouver, Washington juvenile was driving her SUV on Garden Valley Road. She and a passenger, a 19-year-old Roseburg woman, were in the turn lane on Garden Valley when she proceeded to turn left. The driver stated that she did not see another SUV traveling eastbound on Garden Valley. She proceeded to turn directly in front of the second vehicle, giving the other driver no time to stop. This caused the second vehicle to crash into the passenger side of the first vehicle.
The passenger in the first vehicle was originally unconscious in the front passenger seat and was pinned inside the SUV. Fire personnel arrived and extricated her. She was life flighted to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend in Springfield and is listed in fair condition at last check according to a hospital spokesperson. Both drivers were transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center for minor injuries. The driver who caused the accident was cited for making a dangerous left turn. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
