CONTAINMENT REACHES 100 PERCENT ON DIXON FIRE

Containment has reached 100 percent on the Dixon Fire.

An update said by meeting the mop up standard set by local agencies, the Oregon Department of Forestry Incident Management Team 2 will transfer command of the Dixon Fire to a local Type 4 organization, comprised of resources from the Umpqua National Forest and the Douglas Forest Protective Association.

Incident Commander Matt Howard said, “This positive outcome is due to partnerships. The fire burned across a checkerboard of private and government ownerships”. Howard said, “Everybody was in lockstep to bring together the right resources and support effective decision-making.

The Tiller Trail Highway is open. Firefighters continue to work in the area. Rolling debris and other post-fire hazards remain along the Tiller Trail Highway.
