Umpqua Valley Arts is celebrating its 14th year hosting the Umpqua Plein Air Painting and Exhibition event through Friday.
A release said since 2010, UVA has hosted the event to celebrate the beautiful and diverse sceneries of the area. Artworks focus on everything from powerful emerald rivers to abundant farmlands and beautiful coastlines to locations which define the area.
UVA Exhibitions Coordinator Ashley Cluver said, “I am excited for this year’s event as Umpqua Plein Aire has become an event and exhibition that is loved by artists and the Douglas County Community alike”. Cluver said, “Not only is it fun to catch the artists live as they paint, but seeing the different subject matters they choose also shows the beautiful compositions that can be found in the smallest places”.
The release said to celebrate the artist’s hard work, each participant will have the opportunity to submit up to three pieces they create during the event to be displayed inside the galleries at UVA. These works will also be juried by a guest juror who will select the top 40 pieces and present awards to the winners during a special opening reception on Saturday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The artwork will be on display through October 25th.
