The Umpqua Valley saw the first measurable rain since mid-June on Saturday.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service told News Radio 93-9 FM and 1240 KQEN that the rain gauge at the Roseburg Regional Airport recorded .23 inches of rain. That is much lower than many residents have reported on social media posts.

Saturday’s thunderstorms led to short periods of heavy rain. Some lightning was recorded. Numerous areas had power outages.

The last rain had come between June 15th and 17th.

Sunshine and temperatures in the low 80s are forecast through Wednesday with the chance of rain and cooler temperatures between Thursday and Saturday.
