ROSEBURG POLICE JAIL MAN AFTER ALLEGED DISTURBANCE

Roseburg Police jailed a man after an alleged disturbance Friday afternoon.

An RPD report said at 5:00 p.m. 36-year-old Morgan Wivel allegedly was in a disturbance was a victim in the 400 block of Northeast Cummins Street when a second victim tried to break up the fight. Wivel reportedly punched the second victim in the face and broke his glasses.

Officers attempted to detain the suspect, but he fled on foot. Officers chased Wivel and deployed a taser before he was taken into custody. He was transported to CHI Mercy Medical Center where he received stitches to his face and arm. Wivel was charged with harassment, second-degree criminal trespass, third-degree escape, and for a warrant. He was detained on $15,000 bail.
