The Umpqua Valley Winegrowers Association are launching a new event: The Umpqua Valley Harvest Tour.

An UVWA release said it will take place on Saturday, September 14th and is currently the only event of its kind in the U.S.

The tour will provide an exclusive opportunity to explore the region’s vineyards and wineries. Attendees will enjoy small-group hands-on vineyard & cellar experiences, learning what happens behind the scenes during harvest. They will also taste award-winning wines, sample hand-crafted small bites, and meet the passionate makers behind the wine labels.

During this experience, customers will have the opportunity to get hands-on with different experiences including:

*Sample grapes in the vineyard, squeeze/stomp them, and test for ripeness

*Watch how grapevines are pruned for optimal ripeness

*Help with active grape fermentation

*Blend different lots of Pinot Noir to experience how the winemaker creates a final blend

*Taste directly from a barrel of aging wine

Attendees will create their own itinerary for the day, choosing from 18 Umpqua Valley wineries participating in the event. Capacity at each winery will be limited to ensure an intimate guest experience, so participants are encouraged to buy their tickets and choose their wineries early.
