A transient was jailed after incidents in south county on Thursday night.

A Douglas County Sheriff’s Office report said just after 9:15 p.m. deputies were dispatched to the 3100 block of Upper Cow Creek Road in the Canyonville area, due to the suspect allegedly being in a drunken rage.

His family reported that the man was trying to jump in front of traffic. The man had allegedly jumped in front of two vehicles and had hit one of them. He reportedly continually made threats of suicide by cop. Deputies arrived on the scene and made contact with the family. The suspect had left prior to their arrival and was in a wooded area to the north of the property. Deputies were unable to locate the man, so cleared the scene.

A short time later, deputies were called back to the location as the man had returned. This time the man’s family members had held him down. Deputies took the man into custody. He was clearly impaired and made numerous statements about murdering family members of deputies. The man was taken to corrections. When he arrived, a deputy confirmed that the man had been spitting all over the patrol vehicle. He was charged with second-degree counts of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief. The man was detained without bail.
