Riverbend Live! concludes its 2024 season with a night of nostalgia in Winston Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.
The Jumptown Big Band is a 17-piece swing and jazz band that formed in 2012 and has been entertaining audiences of all kinds ever since. The band organizes itself based on the Count Basie brand of instrumentation and presentation. They play a variety of swing and jazz standards as well as more contemporary big band arrangements of recent popular tunes.
The Newport Nightengales are on the bill as well. They sing songs in three-part harmony, mainly from the 1930s and 1940s. The group is heavily influenced by the Andrew Sisters, the Boswell Sisters and even the Mills Brothers.
Attendees can bring their own meal, along with wine or beer, or buy from the vendors. Chairs and blankets can be put out early in the day. The venue is tobacco free. Dogs are not permitted.
Take exit 119 from Interstate 5 and follow the signs to Riverbend Park. For more information about Riverbend Live! go to: www.rivebendlive.org.
