HEAT ADVISORY FOR INLAND VALLEYS OF SOUTHWESTERN OREGON

August 1, 2024 4:10 a.m.

A Heat Advisory is in effect from 2:00 p.m. Thursday through 8:00 p.m. Friday in inland valleys in much of southwestern Oregon.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service said there is a major heat risk with high temperatures between the upper 90s to 105 degrees and overnight lows from the upper 50s to upper 60s.

The Advisory area includes central Douglas County, Josephine and Jackson counties and eastern Curry County.

Forecasters said hot temperatures may cause heat illness. Residents should drink plenty of fluid, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose-fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke are seen.
