ROSEBURG POLICE CITE FOUR PEOPLE FOR PROHIBITED CAMPING

An RPD report said at 7:30 a.m. officers contacted a 46-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman in the 1700 block of West Harvard Avenue. They were camping approximately fifteen yards from the riverbank which is a violation of the place portion of the city ordinance. They were instructed to move along and were released after being given their citations for camping and littering near waters.

At 8:45 a.m. officers contacted a 45-year-old man at his camp at Templin Beach Park, in the 100 block of Southeast Templin Avenue. It was set up about 40 feet from the edge of the South Umpqua River. There were about two large trash bags worth of trash scattered around the camp. The man is very familiar with the Time, Place and Manner ordinance and knew he was not allowed to camp at that location. He was also cited for depositing trash within 100 yards of a waterway. The man was issued some trash bags to clean up his mess.

At 3:00 p.m. officers contacted a 41-year-old man at Fir Grove Park in the 1300 block of West Harvard Avenue. He had his tent set up in the brush along the riverbank. This area is prohibited by the Time, Place and Manner ordinance. The man is aware of the ordinance and has been cited multiple times. He was released after being given the citation.
